22K Gold (916)
Gold alloy that is 91.6% pure gold mixed with 8.4% silver and copper for hardness. Hallmarked BIS 916. Used in nearly all Indian daily-wear jewelry.
22K gold balances purity with durability. Pure 24K gold is too soft to withstand daily wear. The 8.4% alloy (typically silver + copper) adds hardness so chains, bangles, and rings keep their shape for decades. As of 2026, every 22K piece sold in India must carry the BIS 916 hallmark and a 6-digit HUID.
